Bedroom “Lock”-ers

They wanted to get that book Saturday, lock themselves in the house and read it, because they didn’t want their other friends by Monday telling them who made it and who didn’t.

-Dan Fellman, head of distribution at Warner Bros.

In the U.S. alone, 8.3 million copies of the 12 million that Scholastic has published of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows have been taken off the shelves within the first 24 hours. According to these wonderful statistics in the paper, that’s 50,000 copies per minute. And you know what? I was one of those people who locked themselves in their bedroom on Saturday so I knew who was going to make it and who wasn’t. I managed to finish the 759 page book within the 24 hours I started it.

I was out in the mall waiting in this huge line - it was longer than the one I waited for to get HBP, not to mention I ended up right smack in the middle of this one, whereas I was like first or second to get HBP. The wait, I suppose, wasn’t too bad. I got back to the car around 12:40, and began reading the book around 1 I suppose. The costumes at the Harry Potter party were decent, I saw a rather good Trelawney and there was the Fat Lady standing behind me in line. Anyways, at the party you could feel this excitement in the air; it was quite electrifying. Then all of a sudden, people were chanting “10…9…8…” there were loud screams by the time we reached one. I remember this guy in front of me mentioning that it was like New Year’s, which I suppose we were acting like it was New Year’s.

Now that the series is over, I’m not sure what J.K. Rowling is planning on doing. Perhaps take a nice long break? But hey, out of all 7, my favorite is still PoA. You can’t go wrong with having Harry finding out there are people who actually care for him, you know?

Oh! Before I leave, I’ve been tagged by Jeannie. So, the game is you have to take your iPod/music player playlist and shuffle the songs. Then you list the first 10 and tag 5 more people. However, because most of my online friends have already been tagged…I’ll tag 3.

  1. He Lives in You - Lion King 2 Soundtrack

  2. Mine - Pocahontas Soundtrack

  3. Sepia no Hi - CardCaptor Sakura

  4. DespertarĀ - Aisha Duo

  5. Colors of the Wind - Pocahontas Soundtrack

  6. For Fruits Basket - Fruits Basket Soundtrack

  7. Atlantis Princess - BoA

  8. I Do - Ghost in the Shell Soundtrack

  9. Kocci wo Muite - Meiling Li (Cardcaptor Sakura)

  10. One Step Beyond - Karsh Kale

And now I tag: Crystal, Morgan, and Zoe!

If anyone wants to rant about the latest Harry Potter go ahead and rant away. I’d like to hear your take onĀ it and what your favorite book of the series is.
