Mare’s Soul

I began experimenting with web designing sometime when I was twelve/thirteen, I believe. I had a friend bug me about getting a blog so she could keep in touch since she moved, so I eventually gave in around 2005/2006. The site went through two names, Rants and Soundless Seas. I was going to name it Bamboo Realm before I came across an old layout I made for my old writing archive site.

The name, Mare’s Soul, is part Latin. ‘Mare’ (pronounced ma-ray) is Latin for sea. I’ve always had this infatuation with the ocean - it just calms me. It’s also personal for me because I feel that my personality is very “water”, because like many water personalities, I’m calm, patient, and creative. And since this is a blog, ’soul’ fits quite nicely, doesn’t it?
