I recently finished reading Playing for Pizza by John Grisham and am in love with Italy. The food sounds amazing, the driving sounds difficult. I have never in my life driven a manual car, so I think if I ever visited Italy, I’ll be leasing a scooter.
The book is about a third-string quarterback (which I’ve learned means the back-up’s back-up quarterback) who played the worst performance in NFL history. The only football team who wants him is in Parma, Italy and he doesn’t even know where that is. Though I got a little lost during descriptions of the football games (I am not a football americano fan) I still found it quite humorous and fun to read.
For those of you who don’t know, I am obsessed with the drama, Lost. I missed last season because of school and work, but thankfully my dad rented the season last weekish!
Not thankfully, he made sure that I had every single episode from last season and this season watched by last Sunday.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt so lazy in my entire existence. It was just way too much television, but I’m absolutely pumped up about the next episode! I somehow missed all the hubbub on last season’s season finale (how, I’m not sure) so it came as a total shocker to me. Those writers are on a roll and I’d like to give each of them a high-five or a hug.
Then I would demand to know what is going on and where in the world are they taking the series. With all the character deaths and plot twists, it’s a wonder how I survive each week.
I want everyone to know that I did manage to find New Moon at Barnes and Noble and therefore did not have to wait a week. I managed to finish all three books within 3 days of writing my last post. At the moment I’m heavily anticipating the fourth book and have already read the rough draft of the first chapter of Edward’s story
(Midnight Sun) that
Stephenie Meyer
is planning on writing. It’s deliciously good, and if you’re interested in reading it, why don’t you head on over to her official website and click on ‘Other Projects’?
While there, I managed to find out that she’s planning on releasing a new book in May. It will be released as mainstream fiction, not young adult fiction. I can’t remember the title, but I’ll definitely give it a shot. I’m trying to do everything to help make the wait a little more bearable, and if that means stalking Stephenie Meyer via her website, I shall do it.
I wish I could think of something else besides Twilight to talk about right now, but nothing else is springing to mind. So, for all of you Twilight fans, please be sure to leave your long essay length rants in my comments. It’d be interesting to see what everyone else thinks about it. Are you heavily anticipating the next book, Breaking Dawn? Already have it preordered? Will you be there for the midnight parties? Do you think Twilight is the new Harry Potter?
Of course, you all know that I’m heavily anticipating the next book. Shockingly, I don’t have mine preordered yet, but I’ll get around to it sometime in June/July. As for being there at midnight…It is tempting, but it depends on if the book will be released on Tuesday or if it’ll be released during the weekend. And yes, I do think the series is the new Harry Potter.
I’m sure most of you already know about the Twilight movie that will be premiering in December of this year. The actor who played Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies will be playing Edward. I’m a little skeptical on this simply because the actor who played Krum was better looking than him, and according to the books, Krum isn’t a looker, but Cedric is. I saw a picture of the actor (Robert something) and he looked like my vision of Edward in one picture, and then not so much in another picture. Another thing is, knowing that the actor is British, will he keep his accent or will he work on a neutral mid-western accent for the movie? Does anyone know anything about it?
Errgh! I finished Twilight a couple hours ago and I’m quite happy. That book is just so amazing. The trials that a relationship between a human and vampire have are just astounding. I don’t think my emotions (or my heart rate) have been so affected by a novel. Edward and Bella’s relationship is just so beautiful to watch that I begin to involuntarily smile. This usually happens when I’m reading an uber cute manga (e.g. Fruits Basket, Lovely Complex), but it just so happens that Twilight is the very first novel (I think) to have accomplished that very feat.
However, I’m now feeling frustrated and anxious and I don’t think I can start writing the next chapter of Zincian Legend: The Chosen if I don’t vent. So be warned, about 95% or more of the rest of this post will be venting.
So, I was at the mall today hoping to buy New Moon knowing that I was going to finish reading Twilight by tonight. I was not expecting that both of the bookstores in town were, le gasp, OUT OF STOCK!
I know for a fact that two weeks ago they had New Moon in stock. So why now? So I found that to be quite frustrating. I did, however, order it at B. Dalton (even though I hate that store) and was told it would take a week to come in.
However, my father happily reminded (probably to get me out of my shocked, depressed state) that we could go to the nearby city to check if their bigger and better bookstores had it in stock. The problem: we’re going in the morning tomorrow. And that would be the reason of my anxiety. Can’t tomorrow come sooner? I could sleep, but even though I’m tired, I don’t think I’m capable of sleep. It’s almost like the same anxiety one gets the night before the first day of school that makes sleep impossible to find. I did, however, buy Eclipse, the third installment to the series today because my friend was joking to me that when I went to get New Moon today (like me, she thought I was definitely getting the book…
) that they would magically be out of stock of the last book tomorrow (which was probably when I’d finish the second book anyway… So out of precaution, I went ahead and bought it.
*sigh* My friend is coming over tomorrow, which is exciting. We share a lot interests (could she be my sister from another mother?) and we haven’t seen each other in a while because she attends college now. I believe we’ll be playing Disney Scene It? and I’ve already recruited my brother because it’s soooo much more fun to play it in a group rather than two people. She’s quite educated in Disney just like me, so she won’t be sitting there like my poor dad was when me and my brother recruited him. I felt so bad because he didn’t know any of the answers except one or two!!
Now that I’m calm again, I think I’ll run off and start on that new chapter. My novel-in-the-making is still quite rough, but I think the first quarter of it or so is actually…dare I say it? Publishable.
Time will tell how the rest of it looks…
