For A Moment
Call it fate or destiny, I call it choice. Coincidence. That’s what led me at that place and time.
You mistook my drink for yours, and when your hand touched mine, a shock ran through my spine. I saw in you everything I saw in me: Loneliness, want, and despair. Time stood still.
Your hand fumbled for your door. The two of us nearly crash into your apartment - our mouths already exploring each other. I keep moving and hitting the kitchen chairs as you lead me to your room.
Barely making it through the threshold, my mouth trails downward, lingering at your neck.
Is this right? I am a aperson who teaches the future. I am the one married with two beautiful children. I love them.
A sigh escapes your lips, egging me to continue down your body.
For a moment let me do the wrong thing. For a moment take my responsibilities away. For a moment, just let me forget.
The two of us move in sync toward your bed. Heavy breathing and gasps permeate the air. I cling to your body because I feel I’ll die if I don’t.
When I slip out your apartment, I leave with no regrets. I won’t know your name and I’ll barely remember your body; we may never even see each other again. But for a moment, you made me feel real.
